James W. Gum appears to have had a dairy operation in the Cedar Grove area after he sold his Dickerson farm to Birkett.

In 1946, the Birkett took out a mortgage which listed, among other things, 22 Holstein cows, 22 milk cans, a 12 can sterilizer, a bull, and several heifers. (See MDLandRec - Liber 1045/Folio 345)

In 1953 Birkett had a 300 gal Mojonnier bulk milk tank and their hauler was Charles Davis.

Charles "Muzzy" Tipton owned the farm from 4/28/38 to 10/27/43. He married into the White Family and Max White was his neighbor and brother-in-law. The previous owner before Charles Tipton was Suzie Veihmeyer, who inherited the property from her father Leonidas Jones. At the present time, we have made no connection between Tipton, Veihmeyer, and Jones to dairy farming.
